Hi Curt:
After the recent chain of events at Ft. Hood I believe strengths training would be well received. I live about 100 miles from Killeen (Ft. Hood)...Texas A&M University recruits from this area. Let me know if I can be of assistance to you; strengths training is definitely needed at Ft. Hood.

I do lots of strengths-training with faith groups so I would be interested in hearing about your research. Gallup is partnering with the American Bible Society to provide strengths training for Military Chaplains. There are increasing levels of suicide and domestic violence among military personnel and their families and we are hoping that this strengths approach can help to curb this negative trend.

Hi Curt:
I receive the Gallup Managment Journal; however, I have not seen any faith based article...I guess mine could be the first :>) Thank you for info.

Gallup has a monthly online journal called the Gallup Managment Journal. Geoff Brewer is the Editor.

Howdy:

I have just completed my doctorates degree and I several items that would be useful for those inviduals who are conducting faith based strengths training. In addition I have two (qual & quan) papers I would like to publish that deal with faith based strengths training. I appreciate any suggestions you might have on possible journals.

I am a Senior Consultant with the Gallup Organziation. I have graduate degrees in Theology and Counseling Psychology. I joined Gallup after spending 23 years as a Pastor and Church leader. I spend most of my time at Gallup either coaching individuals or teaching groups. While I spend very little of my time in what is considered counseling, I am very interested in the how the CSF might be used effectively in counseling settings. I look forward to joining this on-going discussion.

Just returned from Arizona at a facility Psychological Counseling Services in Scottsdale. Spent four days as a visiting professional with them in what they call an Intensives program for persons with addictions, particularly sex addictions, compulsive and obsessive behaviors and co-dependency issues. I introduced them to Strengths -- had a good discussion about applications in their program. It indeed is a very good way to focus on the Positive Psychology mainstream approach - which they are very much in align with their focus.

Thanks for joining this group. I do think we are, in a way, forging new ground since SQ been used primarily in educational settings. I'm curious, what Christian School system do you work and travel for?

Look forward to open dialogue and good application of Strengths themes in counseling. My travel schedule is quite heavy at this time – but like the idea of this type of forum for discussion and dialogue. Thanks for the opportunity in joining this group. Will be reading and try to respond and add some discussion as much as possible even though I have limited access to the Internet while traveling right now (I am out of the country).

Not strictly a counselor, but as an advisor what often rises to the surface are issues that are more related to counseling than academic planning. I certainly refer students to counselors for help as needed, but it is nice to see strengths as an element that might be used to encourage them to counseling or help with some small issue. Thanks and keep up the good work!
