Hi - I am a special education teacher at Lincoln High School in Lincoln, NE. I have been teaching there fro 13 years. Most recently I have been assigned to a freshmen team and we are going to be introducing Strengths Finder to all of our freshmen in the future. I think my input and achiever talents are what I utilize the most in my position.
Thank you so much for your advice and especially about joining the professional organizations. Frankly, I can't wait to get started on the degree and am so looking forward to it. I am just 'unwinding' from a family business and am very ready for my next adventure. I'm looking forward to exploring different areas of counseling but know that I want to incorporate strengths into whatever I end up doing with it. As I get going, I will certainly take you up on your offer of guidance and advice! Thanks, Christy!
I'm Mark's wife from the below comment and would love to connect with you about your degree, vocation and strengths incorporation! Sounds like you are doing some great stuff with strengths/counseling at your university. What is the best way for us to dialogue? Thanks so much!

Thanks for the workbooks! I haven't been able to read them yet, but I have downloaded and printed them. I'll get to them as soon as I can.(I also noticed that they are your own creation. Impressed!)
I'm still working through the new Activities Manual!
I have a favor to ask. My wife, Jami, is looking into a masters in counseling. Would you be willing to connect with her as she starts the process. She' enrolled in a program at St. Mary's in Minneapolis (they have an adult learner program in the metro).
Thanks for your very quick response! Likely a new record. (Of course, you just happened to be on line....)
Would the best way to begin be you e-mailing me info about the Building Strengths in Ourselves and Our Therapy with Patients? That way I could read them and get back to you with questions.
I'm using Strengths in two different settings: outpatient counseling and in the schools (as an external community resource).
Very cool, I have been using Strengths in Therapy here at PSU for about 3 years now. I also do training of staff members at the University on using strengths as a teambuilder and am doing a strengths RA training in a couple of weeks. I for the past 2 years have also taught a workshop here at PSU for counselors called Building Strengths in Ourselves and in Our Therapy with Patients, it is a 2 day workshop designed to teach therapists how to integrate the program into a therapeutic setting. Generally I have a lot of School Counselors in the Workshop. Where do you want to begin? I am glad to help you any way I can.
Shane Lopez has encouraged me to contact you. I'm a therapist in Grand Rapids MI who's doing two things with SQ: 1) integrating it in my counseling; 2) partnering with a local college academic advisor to teach SQ workshops this coming school year for high school students.
I'm looking for more resources from those who have done similar things. This is why Shane gave me your name. He's thinking you would be a good resource.
