The College Access grant is funded by a non-profit organization in Nebraska. Funds are awarded depending on the size of the school; our school (with a population of about 1600) receives $25,000 per year for four years. Funds can be used to take students on college visits to schools in Nebraska, create test prep classes, promote career exploration and awareness, or anything else that encourages student to pursue some type of post-secondary education. We do have a target group; students must meet at one of the 3 requirements: Free/Reduced Lunch, any ethnic minority, or a first-generation college student. At my school, about 80% of the students qualify, so most of our efforts are focused on activities that most of our students can attend. It is a fantastic program!
A quick question for you: Did you attend Northwestern College in Orange City, IA? That is my alma mater! :)
