Shane,

Thank you for leaving a message on my strengthfinder page. Currently, I am having all my staff take the strenthfinder, but have not yet implement it for my students. My district would to learn more about how strengthfinder can work for high school students. I know that other school districts have used strengthfinder for their high school students and it has proved to be very beneficial. I like to try it next year with my high school kids.

Does your school use strenthfinder? If yes, please share your story with us. Thanks.

Thanks, Shane! Great read, by the way!!! I'm impressed with what she has done there. Is that the extent of the research on identification vs. development? I guess I expected there might be more than that. If there is, and you can point me toward it, I'm excited! If there's not, then perhaps a research opportunity has presented itself for us at Northland with our students!

Hello Shane,

A couple of weeks ago, Mark Pogue invited you into our StrengthsQuest Advocate training there in Omaha. It was a pleasure to hear from your firsthand! Thank you SO much for sharing your expertise with us.

As we ramp up the roll-out of strengths on our campus, the role of research, and our ability to back up our theories with research is critical to selling the strengths movement. One of the questions that came up in our preliminary meeting with our college president and vice president was about the idea that development of strengths (not just identification of strengths) is the key to success. It's easier to sell the idea of strengths identification, but we're proposing something much more. We want students, and our staff and faculty, to not just be able to name their strengths, but to actively be working toward building them. It is our belief that it is that active engagement of our strengths in the development process that also correlates to engagement for both students and in the work environment. In the years that I have been strengths coaching, that seems to be true--but I'm curious if there is research that supports that.

I'm wondering if you have any research on file which compares the results when developmental processes are implemented along with strengths identification--and potentially as compared to strengths identification alone. It would be helpful, in selling this to our campus, for them to see how development of strengths increases the likelihood of success, for both students and employees. I would be open to any literature, whether it be for higher education or organizations, which supports this premise.

Can you help me? We're eager to build what Mark is calling a Gallup Center for Excellence on our campus--which means we want all faculty, staff, and students ultimately to have taken SF 2.0 and have an active developmental process in place to deepen their effectiveness in utilizing their strengths.

Please let me know! Thanks!

DeAnna

What would be the best way to plan a visit. Visiting the Gallup organization would be wonderful. I assume you are now in Nebraska.

Hello Shane,
I am very excited to report that I passed my comps and will be presenting my dissertation proposal in the next few weeks on the effects of the strengths finder instrument on MBA students. I have read many of your articles for my lit review. I almost feel that I know you. I am working on planning some field trips. I am hoping to visit Azusa Pacific University and meet Karen Longman. She spoke at George Fox two summers ago. Would like to put your school on my travel plans.

Hi Shane,
How have you been?
I'm excited to be going to the International Positive Psychology Conference in Philly, but I don't know of anyone else who is attending yet so I was wondering if I might be able to meet some of your students (if any of them are going as well) when we get there.
Hope you are well.
